Fully integrative care means Dr. Bloch can include and integrate a variety of healing modalities from many traditions and cultures, including Cranial Sacral Therapy, Acupuncture, Nutritional Counseling, and more.
Cranial Sacral Therapy uses gentle touch to manipulate cranial suture lines and this manipulation regulates the flow of cerebrospinal fluid and aids in balancing the nervous system and spinal fascial networks. The premise asserts that there are small rhythmic motions of the cranial bones attributed to flux of cerebrospinal fluid and arterial pressure, and selective pressures may be used to manipulate the cranial bones to achieve a therapeutic result by way of the freeing this flux and thus the spine’s fascial connections throughout the entire body. Treatment requires very light touch of the skull and focuses intently on the subtle communicated movements throughout the entire body. The practitioner will intimately be in tune with a patient, and patients often report feelings of deep relaxation during and after the treatment, and may even feel light-headed. This effect is the result of an increase in endorphins, blood flow and activation of the endocannabinoid system.
Acupuncture is a form of treatment where thin needles are inserted into the skin along channels called meridians. Meridians are believed to be where a life force energy called Qi runs from one’s primary organs throughout all tissues, muscles, tendons, joints, etc. By inserting acupuncture needles along the meridians, we are able to free and enable stagnant or over-zealous qi into a more balanced and healthy state. Acupuncture is a key component of traditional Chinese medicine. It is most often used for pain relief, though it is also used for a wide range of other conditions.
Acupressure is similar to acupuncture but uses finger pressure instead of needles.
Reflexology is the application of pressure to specific points and areas of the feet, which in Chinese medicine are believed to correspond to different organ systems. In osteopathy, the feet are the foundation of our structure and tie into fascia throughout the body. Reflexology is low risk and the application is generally very relaxing. Reflexology helps alleviate stress and anxiety. Combined with osteopathic manipulation it is an excellent option to reduce any pain.
Nutritional Counseling aims to use supplements to tune your body to better deal with adverse biological events caused by stress, disease, inflammation, foreign substances and natural aging. Health or healing requires energy on a cellular level and the amount and type of energy a cell has determines its ability to either build your body up or tear it down. All cellular processes are highly influenced by our nutritional states, which continue to be challenged through decreased food quality and environmental toxicities that go along with our ever-developing world. YCHC can help you better manage a variety of conditions ranging from most chronic disease to injury healing, brain stimulation, performance enhancement, etc.
Advanced Hydration and IV Nutrition begins with IV fluids and adds vitamins, minerals, nutrients and other healthy substances directly into your bloodstream via a carefully controlled IV drip. It achieves more controlled, pronounced and immediate effects than digestion and serves as innovative therapy for things such as antioxidation and aging, fatigue, performance training, infections, wound healing, metabolic and nutritional conditions, etc.
B12 injections help drive metabolic processes and gives you energy. It is a naturally occurring vitamin found in animal products such as meat, eggs, and dairy. It is important for the proper functioning of the circulatory and nervous systems and plays a critical role in red blood cell production. Deficiencies mostly cause fatigue, but also memory and concentration issues, light-headedness, GI upset, etc. Many people take B12 shots to generally feel better, have more energy and allow the body to fight infection and run more smoothly.
Orthopedic Steroid Injections are not typically considered alternative, however may be a good alternative to rapidly decrease inflammation after injury or insult when all other recovery attempts are failing. Steroids should not be overused, but can be injected when appropriate into swollen joints to alleviate inflammation caused by injury, arthritis or other painful conditions. It is listed here because Dr. Bloch is very good at them and doesn’t need to overcharge for the procedure like most orthopedic offices do.
